Tine Thing Helseth spiller trompet

Tine Thing Helseth

Trumpet

Artistic Director

“She is still light on her feet. The attacks are just as precise, and the trills and runs pass by with the same dazzling technical perfection. When she plays the height notes, it’s time to let out the cheers.”

Ola Nordal, ballade.no

Biography

We are so proud and happy that Tine has agreed to be the artistic director for another three-year period! This means that one of the world’s best trumpet players will lead us through 2028. Tine has long been “one of us”, with a Risør career spanning well over ten years. She has left a mark, especially since she took over the role of artistic director.

But let’s dwell on the fact that she is one of the world’s best trumpet players. She is particularly known for her unique sound. Unlike Glenn Gould, who could hum while playing, this is more challenging for Tine. Nevertheless, it is as if her voice flows through the trumpet, and one can immediately recognize, “That is Tine playing.”

As an advocate for the entire trumpet repertoire, she has performed pieces from the classical period to contemporary music, and new commissioned works. A bit of classical, a bit of jazz, and a bit of pop – she does not confine herself to a single genre, which contributes to her entirely unique sound. This recognition is worldwide, and she has played on the biggest stages on six continents.

With her fantastic open energy, she has elevated Risør Chamber Music Festival to new heights. She can call upon any performer, and they will show up. With her unique ability to see the classical and the new as one, Risør can once again say after the sluggish pandemic period: With Tine at the helm, we are again one of the country’s leading chamber music festivals.
