Kristiansand Symfoniorkester på en øde øy

Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra

“Det store ensemblet er styrken i denne framsyninga … Eg tek meg i å sakna orkesteret undervegs i framsyninga i dei lange periodane det ikkje spelar.”

Karen Frøsland Nystøyl

Biography

Nothing makes us happier than bringing together all the great musical forces from Southern Norway during the festival week, and for the fourth time, our friends from the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO) are joining us.

As one of the country’s national orchestras, with 67 musicians from 17 different countries, this is an orchestra that is steadily climbing the “recognition” ladder. For example, it is not every day that a Norwegian orchestra plays at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

But then again, it’s not often a Norwegian orchestra makes the entire capital’s press go wild in a musical collaboration like KSO did with Ola Kvernberg and his Steamdome III concerts in the autumn of 2024.

In other words: There is a reason why we welcome them again, for when Sissel Kyrkjebø first comes to Stangholmen, we want to have our friends in KSO join the party.
