Biography

Anyone who follows classical music in Norway have heard Gunnar Flagstad play, for if there is one thing he is, it is industrious. With concerts both at home and abroad, and as the artistic director (in a trio) of one of Norway’s most unique concert series, Resonans, Gunnar is always where the action is.

But to be allowed to participate everywhere, you simply have to be darn good at what you do. He was top of class when he graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music in accompaniment and ensemble playing. This is arguably the most important skill in chamber music, and that is why he is coming to us.

The white city by Mjøsa is sending its best man to the white city by Skagerrak, and rightly so. For in Risør, the country’s best musicians belong in the last week of June, and this pianist with a surname that carries weight is among the very best.
