Biography

The term multitalented is often thrown around a bit too easily. The term also implies a degree of ability to vary. With Silje, it is almost as if the term doesn’t suffice. Just look at this.

She is a trained classical singer from the Norwegian Academy of Music, holds a PhD in singing and dancing from the Academy of Theatre, has sung at the Opera in both classical and contemporary styles, and has been employed as a dancer at the Polish Dance Theatre.

During the festival, she will perform the opening concert for children and perform a special piece that mimics the vocalization of gibbons.

Silje excels in everything, and in 2013 she was honored as Performer of the Year by the Norwegian Society of Composers. As part of Ensemble NeoN, she has also won two Spellemann Awards.
