Biography

Solmund Nystabakk. Just the name sounds as beautiful as the instrument he now holds a doctorate in, the lute. For it was as a lutenist (yes, now you know what someone who plays the lute is called) that he found his sanctuary.

His journey has taken him from small village churches in northern Norway to the baroque palaces of Venice, from Moldejazz to Wiener Musikverein and the Tampere Biennale. And now, finally, to the Risør Chamber Music Festival.

And here in Risør, we invite the best of the best, so it is fitting to mention that Solmund, as part of Ensemble NeoN, has won two Spellemann Awards.
