The Festival Choir meets Brahms
A requiem to console you
Those who have been to Risør before have heard of the “optimist queue.” It is the queue where everyone without a ticket but hoping to get a spot stand before a concert. Last year, when the Festival Choir sang Carmina Burana, we were unsure how the ticket sales would go. In short: The longest optimist queue we have ever seen.
So, we’ll repeat the success. We join joyful amateur singers from the entire region, and even from Europe, music students from Agder University, and professionals. Led by the steady hands of conductor Tor Morten Halvorsen, they will showcase Brahms’ great requiem.
A requiem written for those of us who are still living. A requiem meant to console. In the grand surroundings of Frydenberg Church, we expect a slightly shorter optimist queue this year. Because now you know that you must buy a ticket in advance to secure a spot. This is the concert with and for everyone who believes in the unifying power of culture.
