Biography

Bjørg is one of our very best cellists, and as we know, there are some great cello names we have fostered up here in the north. She may not be the one who stands out the most in the regular media, but for those who follow the classical music world closely, she has a CV few others can match.

She is particularly proud of having started the string quartet Vertavo, which received the prestigious Grieg Prize in 2005. But her CV also includes a long list of albums that have swept up awards and solo invitations to all continents.

And to the quote above: She was handpicked to study under the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. This hints at a talent that has worked hard and maximized its potential.
