Biography

Writing a short, digestible text that most can read on everything from PC to mobile about the Gryphon Trio turned out to be difficult for several reasons. Perhaps most of all because the three musicians each on their own have unparalleled careers.

They have been together for over 30 years, since 1993, and over these years have become one of the most important classical music trios from the other side of the Atlantic. Three things distinguish them: They play very often, everywhere. Like all North American artists, they have a unique ability to communicate with their audience. But most importantly: They are simply very good musicians who know each other inside and out.

They chose their name because the mythical bird, the gryphon, was a guardian. This is how they see themselves. Guardians of a musical heritage, which must also be cultivated and shared. Of course, they have the classical canon at their fingertips, but they have also premiered over 80 new works. This group is simply craftsmen of the highest quality.
