Fiolinist Hyeyoon Parl

Hyeyoon Park

Violin

“Technical brilliance and rousing virtuoso fire, charmed by a unique natural sweetness in tone, free from sentimentality.”

Süddeutsche Zeitung

Biography

Hyeyoon can definitely be called a true talent. Already at the age of nine, she made her debut with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, in a country where the demands to “succeed” are extremely high. With a background from South Korea, Germany, and the USA, she is now well-established in London.

Her immense range is continuously highlighted, and how she manages to convey the entire spectrum of emotions, from joy and celebration to the delicate and sober. All without the technique ever feeling forced or out of control. On an instrument where there are plenty of stars, she constantly reminds us of where she is heading: Up to the elite level.

This year, we are fortunate to have both Hyeyoon and her husband, Benjamin Grosvenor, at the festival. Together, they have set a new standard for ensemble playing that you might only achieve when living under the same roof. We will get to experience them up close during several concerts this summer.
