Fløytist Ingrid Neset

Ingrid Neset

Flute

Biography

Ingrid Neset was born to play the flute. As an eight-year-old, she even held the recorder sideways instead of downwards. The transverse flute was her dream. When a spot finally opened at the local music school, there was no turning back. At 15, she put sports aside, and we have been fortunate ever since.

Music runs in her veins. For those who follow the music scene in Norway, the “Neset” name is well-known, and the childhood home has been filled with musical talents. Nevertheless, Ingrid distinguishes herself with a unique ability to switch from classical finesse to modern rawness and wonder.

Her older brother Marius has composed for Ingrid, allowing her to truly showcase her distinctive qualities: How can one play and challenge the thin brass tube that a flute is, without losing the instrument’s unique character? With so much experience and so much music within, the 32-year-old is well on her way to redefining what flute playing can be.
