Michael Andreas Grolid viola

Michael Andreas Grolid (b. 1997) is a Norwegian viola player and composer. He is currently studying at Hanns Eisler Hochschüle für Musik in Berlin with Walter Küssner of the Berlin Philharmonic as a teacher. In April 2016, Michael received the audience award in NRK’s Virtuoso talent competition. He has been a soloist with the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and Oslo Camerata. As a chamber musician, he has played with Janine Jansen, Alisa Weilerstein, Jonathan Biss, Walter Küssner, Ludwig Quandt, Tabea Zimmermann and many more. In addition to playing the viola, Michael composes and his music has been performed by the Oslo Philharmonic, the Tromsø Chamber Orchestra, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Broadcasting Orchestra, and performers such as Eivind Ringstad, Thomas Riebl and Arve Tellefsen.
