Music, Philosophy, and Intellectual History

In 60 minutes, Tor Espen Aspaas guide’s us through 250 years of musical history, through the mind and vision of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. And no, this will not only be talking, but also beautiful music from some of the greatest composers of the period. After all, Tor Espen Aspaas is a Knight 1st Class of the Order of St. Olav for his ability to communicate music and culture.

Tor Espen goes all in, connecting the metaphysical, historical, and contemporary with the composers and their works. This puzzle consists of the composers’ own backgrounds and characteristics, and the time and place they lived in and with. Art never arises in a vacuum.

Do you want to be more knowledgeable and smarter on classical music? Then this lecture is for you. The next time you hear Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler, and others, you will understand and thus experience them in a whole new way. This lifts music to be more than just music, and we come even closer to the whole.
