Grieg's Music for «Peer Gynt»

Wednesday, June 26 2024 1 pm

Lecture by Torkil Baden

In 2024, it is 150 years since Ibsen asked Grieg to compose the music for Peer Gynt. The work extended to the premiere at the Christiania Theater in 1876. This collaboration between two of our greatest cultural personalities led to a musical legacy that still excites and inspires a vast global audience.

Join Torkil Baden on an engaging journey. Based on his latest book “Edvard Grieg – National and International”, you will get a lecture that provides insight into the history behind the Peer Gynt music and the collaboration between Ibsen and Grieg. During the lecture, Håvard Gimse and Johanna Rudström will perform some of Grieg’s most beloved pieces from Peer Gynt.
