Maximilian Hornung

Maximilian Hornung is a prominent cellist who has established himself as a leading artist in his generation. He has regularly performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, under the batons of conductors like Daniel Harding, Yannick Nézét-Séguin, and Mariss Jansons. Hornung boasts an impressive discography, including award-winning recordings that have earned him ECHO Klassik awards.

His musical journey began at the age of eight when he started playing the cello, and he achieved first place in the ARD Music Competition. Becoming the principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at the age of 23, he has solidified his position as a sought-after artist in international concert halls such as the Vienna Musikverein and Concertgebouw Amsterdam. In addition to his solo performances, Hornung has engaged in chamber music collaborations with renowned musicians like Anne-Sophie Mutter and Daniil Trifonov.
