Herman Bakke Karlsen

Herman Bakke Karlsen (born 2001) is a pianist from Risør. He is currently in the final year of his bachelor’s degree in performing classical piano at UiA, studying under Helge Kjekshus and Sveinung Bjelland. In the fall of 2023, he was an exchange student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, under the tutelage of Rikke Sandberg. His playing is described as genuine, intelligent, and sincere. He has qualified for the finals of competitions such as Young Classical Talent and Youth Music Championship multiple times. In 2018, he received the Dream Scholarship from Norsk Tipping. Additionally, he composes his own music. (photo: Desirée Berg)
