Frida Fredrikke W. Wærvågen
Cello
Norway’s cello tradition is long and proud, and for Frida it was love at first sight when she discovered the cello. She both understands the legacy and carries it forward with a straight back.
About the Artist
Frida comes from a musical family and tells of many hours listening (and sleeping) in church pews while her mother sang in a choir. Today she has two little ones of her own who can enjoy that their mum is one of the country’s finest cellists.
She has been a soloist with all the major orchestras in Scandinavia, and is of course part of the collective in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra.
But she also has a long history with us in Risør. As early as 2010 she was an artist with us, then as a young talent, and now she returns as a pillar of Norwegian chamber music.
