Cathrine Winnes is a renowned conductor and musical innovator who has made significant contributions to the Nordic music world. She has dedicated herself to promoting a more inclusive repertoire within the music community and has collaborated with an impressive list of prominent Nordic orchestras and theaters.

In 2019, Winnes also served as the host for the Swedish-produced documentary series “She Composes Like a Man,” which not only received excellent reviews but was also nominated for the Rose d’Or Award. The series explores female composers throughout history and how the struggle for gender equality took place in concert halls as well.

Since 2015, Cathrine has held the position of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Blåsarsymfonikerna in Sweden. She has also conducted numerous prestigious orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and many more.

Her artistic vision has been known to include bold programming choices that bring rarely performed romantic music and forgotten masterpieces from the 20th century back to the audience. She has also focused on works composed by female composers such as Lili Boulanger and Grażyna Bacewicz and has had the honor of premiering several contemporary pieces.
