Håvard Gimse is simply one of the country’s very best pianists. As a soloist he has a special sound, and as an accompanist he elevates everyone around him. A rare talent we value highly in Risør.
About the Artist
Håvard Gimse is a familiar figure in Risør and has a long history with us. But we shouldn’t take a musician like that for granted just because we’ve all heard him before. Very few in this country have his range and quality at the keyboard.
And it has been that way for more than 40 years, since he won Princess Astrid’s Music Prize in 1985. He picked up individual prizes through the 1990s, received the Gammleng Prize for classical music, and has been nominated for three Spellemann Awards. And it’s not only here at home that he is held in high esteem. Abroad, Håvard’s playing has always been valued highly.
In the year he turns 60, it’s fascinating how he is still relevant and beloved by both fellow artists and audiences. Quality always shines through.
