Free City Concert
Head down to the town square and hang out with hundreds of other music lovers. This is the start of another lovely summer day in Risør.
About the concert
You can sit on the front benches and be inside the bubble. Or you can stand a little farther back and chat about all sorts of things while listening to the music in the background.
Maybe you were really only going to buy something quickly, but ended up staying for an hour or so. A good mix is the key to what we offer, and Frode Larsen rounds off each session with his whimsical thoughts and comments.
Last year’s free concerts were packed, and both the waffle iron and the coffee maker were working hard. This is a public celebration. This is summer music in Risør.

Concert Program
Five days of varied programmes and appearances by most of this year’s festival artists. Sebastian Haukås is the Town Square general, and this daily gathering is the starting signal for the day’s musical celebration in Risør.
Welcome to the Town Square!
Program: Tuesday, June 23
There will be a welcome greeting and a little fanfare from Artistic Director Tine Thing Helseth.
We continue the tradition of musicians from the wind course, together with course leader and Free Concert general Sebastian Haukås, creating a wonderful Town Square atmosphere.
And not least: the ceremonial opening of Jarle Storløkken’s festival within the festival, focusing on one non-classical artist. In other words, this will be Jarle’s running thread throughout this year’s celebration. Stay tuned!

- Sebastian Haukås, trumpet
- Jarle Storløkken, guitar
- Musicians from this year’s wind course.
Program: Wednesday, June 24
The musicians from the wind course warm up the crowd before the four gentlemen of the Schumann Quartet get to dazzle in the summer heat.
At the end, you’ll get a small hint of what Mari Eriksmoen will bring to Hollenderhagen right after the Town Square Concert. In short: get tickets for Mari’s song treasures!
